Power Raking

What is Power Raking and what are the benefits?

Power raking is the process of removing excess thatch from your lawn. Thatch is the decomposing debris which forms above the soil layer and below the grass line. Lawns with an excessive amount of thatch will shed water, thus restricting the absorption of water and nutrients into the soil and resulting in an increased susceptibility to fungi, insects and drought. Dethatching also allows more oxygen flow to the grass and its roots. This is recommended at least once every three years or when the thatch layer exceeds 1/2 inch.
